Here are some facts about the Great Salt Lake.
- 37th largest lake in the world. That's
pretty big!!!
- 12-25% salinity. It's almost the same
amount as the Dead Sea!!!
- Saltier than sea water. WOW sea water
has a lot of salt!!!
- Jordan, Weber, and Bear river's are it's
primary sources. Another river called the Jordan is the Dead Sea's primary source. Wow that's cool!!!
- Habitat for millions of brine shrimp, native
birds, shorebirds, and waterfoul including the largest staging population of Wilson's Phlarope in the world.
- Covers 1700 square miles.
- There are a few crashed airplanes on the floor of the lake
including a 2 military F-16's. I hope the pilots ejected before it crashed!!!
- 75 miles long and 28 miles wide. That
covers a lot of square miles!!!
- Max depth of 35 feet. That's pretty deep!!!
- 4th largest terminal lake in the world!!!
- Largest U.S. lake west of the Misissippi
River.
- Coordinates are 41..10N 112..35W.
- The lake type is hypersaline and endorheic.(Check
